Baptism with the Holy Spirit. What does it mean, why do we need it, and how do we get it?
Let’s begin with POWER.
Webster’s define power as: the ability to act or produce an effect. The synonyms for power are: authority, jurisdiction, control, command, sway, dominion. The right to govern or rule or determine.
Authority implies the granting of power for a specific purpose within specified limits.
Jurisdiction implies to official power exercised within prescribed limits.
Control stresses the power to direct and restrain.
Command implies the power to make arbitrary decisions and compel obedience.
Sway suggests the extent or scope of exercised power or influence.
Dominion stresses sovereign power or supreme authority!!!!!
Dunamis power: “Dunamis” is a Greek word and means: “act of power” (Young’s); “miraculous power, ability” (Strong’s); “natural capability, inherent power; capability of anything, ability to perform any-thing; then, absolutely, not merely power capable of action, but, power in action” (Bullinger’s).
“Dunamis” is used 121 times in the New Testament and translated into some English words: such as power, ability, abundance, mighty work, strength, worker of miracles and wonderful work just to name a few.
The purpose God gives us power is not just for personal spiritual enjoyment but to arrive at His goal!
It is the Holy Spirit Who opens our eyes and causes us to see. We don’t have to look for greater power, we are simply to perceive and receive how great is the power which He has already given us.
