Building a Relationship with the Holy Spirit

Building a Relationship

In order to build a relationship with the Holy Spirit it requires time. When building a relationship with any one you must spend time with that person to get to know their character likes and dislikes, and the heart of who they are. This is the same approach we must take to get to know the Holy Spirit on an intimate and personal basis. When you identify a person as your best friend you know all about them and the same holds true for the Holy Spirit, your lifelong friend.

Intimacy is love responding to love. We do this regularly on a human level and it is no different with God Almighty. God is Holy but also He is love. We love because He is love. Agape love.

As we develop a friendship with the Holy Spirit, He makes us more like our Lord Jesus Christ. He forms us into His image. The Bible describes this when it talks about looking into the glory, “beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord” – 2 Corinthians 3:18. When you look in the mirror the reflection is the Lord’s glory. How so? We are being transformed from glory to glory. This transformation is for us to be made in the image of Christ, representing to Lord to His fullness: His character, His love, His gentleness, His humility, His heart of a servant and much, much more.

I invite you to steal away and spend that quiet time in the presence of the Holy Spirit building your relationship. To get to know your best friend you have to ask them questions as well as answer questions. It is ok to ask the Holy Spirit questions; in fact, He welcomes and delights in your dialog.

Dwelling in His Presence there is fullness of joy!
